Aurora, Colo. — Developer Forest City Enterprises and directors of the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority has signed an agreement detailing the development of a 3.5-million-square-foot bioscience park on 160 acres of the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center site. The new University of Colorado Health Sciences Center now under construction occupies some 230 acres of the 520-acre site, and the redevelopment authority controls the remainder.
A portion of the bioscience park will be used to provide facilities for companies conducting private research associated with that of the university, including its Webb-Waring Institute for Cancer, Aging and Antioxidant Research. The park will expand on 85,000 square feet of life science space on the site in two buildings already developed by the redevelopment authority.
Forest City is also the master developer of the former Stapleton International Airport site in Denver, a mixed-use project covering 7.5 square miles and one of the nation's largest urban infill project.
