Illinois Science + Technology Park

Three Nanotechnology Companies Expand at the Illinois Science + Technology Park; One New Nanotechnology Tenant Announced;
An additional 18,800 square feet leased

For immediate release - September 24, 2008

SKOKIE, Illinois - Forest City Science + Technology Group announced today that three existing tenants have leased an additional 16,033-square-feet of space and one new tenant, NanoIntegris, has leased 2,769 square feet of space at the Illinois Science + Technology Park. The existing tenants include Polyera, Nanotope and NanoInk; NanoIntegris, the most recent tenant to join the roster, is a leading supplier of premium single-walled carbon nanotube products.

"Illinois Science + Technology Park is evolving into the premiere epicenter of nanotechnology," said Tom Prescott, Senior Vice President & Development Director, Forest City Science + Technology Group. "The addition of NanoIntegris, coupled with the strong presence and reputations of Polyera, Nanotope and NanoInk, further enhance Chicago's role in the development of nanotechnology breakthroughs and applications."

The existing tenants' space has changed as follows:

  • NanoInk has grown from its initial 21,504 square feet to 33,963 square feet at 8025 Lamon Avenue. Their move was completed in August, 2008.
  • Polyera recently moved to a larger facility within Illinois Science + Technology Park from 8025 Lamon Avenue to 8045 Lamon Avenue, increasing its space from 2,769 square feet to 5,218 square feet. The company completed its move on July 1.
  • Nanotope expanded from 1,975 square feet to 3,100 square feet in 8025 Lamon Avenue. Their expansion occurred in February 2008.

NanoIntegris will join NanoInk and Nanotope in the building located at 8025 Lamon Avenue. NanoIntegris was founded in January 2007 to capitalize on a breakthrough sorting method pioneered by Professor Mark Hersam at Northwestern University. The method separates as-produced single-walled carbon nanotubes by diameter and/or electronic type. NanoIntegris' mission is to enable and promote the development of these applications by providing their customers with high-quality single-walled carbon nanotubes.

NanoInk the first nanotech tenant at the park, located in the Park in 2006. They are an emerging growth technology company specializing in nanometer-scale manufacturing and application development for the life science and semiconductor industries. Polyera, a tenant of Illinois Science + Technology Park since 2006, supplies the printed electronics industry with semiconductor solutions. Nanotope, which initially took space in the Park in 2007, is a regenerative medicine company developing a customizable nanofiber-based platform to regrow damaged tissues in several therapeutic areas. The park is also the headquarters of the NanoBusiness Alliance, a nanotechnology policy and commercialization advocacy group in the United States. The Alliance provides a collective voice and a vehicle for efforts to advance the benefits of nanotechnology across the economy and society.
